This step is mission critical... It's a step that often gets overlooked but is absolutely essential: rest. Yes, you heard me right. Resting is mission critical, not just for serving an LDS mission, but for any mission or purpose we have in life.

When our Heavenly Parents created us, they designed us to constantly grow, expand, and transform. We have this inherent desire for change and improvement. So, naturally, we make plans and set goals to get where we want to be. But here's the thing: many of us forget to include rest as a crucial step in our plans.

Why is that? Well, I think society has conditioned us to see rest as lazy. We're afraid of being labeled as unproductive or not doing enough. We have this mindset that busyness equals success, and if we're not constantly working, we're not achieving. It's like we wear our busyness as a badge of honor, proudly proclaiming how little sleep we got or how many hours we worked.

But here's the truth: rest is not a sign of laziness. It's not a waste of time. In fact, it's vital for our well-being and success. Without proper rest, we risk burnout, which can lead to anxiety, discouragement, and even depression. Our mental and emotional health suffer when we don't give ourselves the time to recharge.

Think of it this way: when we're constantly on the go, putting out fires and dealing with life's demands, our nervous system is in a constant state of panic and stress. We need to step away and allow our brains and bodies to settle down and recharge. That's why taking a day of rest, like Sundays, is so important. It's a chance for growth, transformation, and creation.

Rest is also crucial for maintaining our intrinsic self-worth. Too often, we tie our value to what we accomplish or how busy we are. But true self-worth comes from within, not from external achievements. When we allow ourselves to rest without feeling guilty or worthless, we start to believe that our value is not determined by what we do or don't do.

So, let's change our perspective on rest. Let's stop equating it with laziness and start recognizing its importance. Rest is not a luxury; it's a necessity. It's a step that should be included in every plan for success. When we prioritize rest, we can avoid burnout, protect our mental and emotional well-being, and maintain a healthy sense of self-worth.

So, the next time you're tempted to push yourself to the limit, remember that resting is just as important as doing. Take the time to recharge and replenish your energy. You deserve it, and it will make a world of difference in your journey towards achieving your goals and fulfilling your mission.
