In this #TBT episode from Lisa's previous podcast, The Laws of Entertainment, I sit down for a conversation with Nikkole Denson Randolph, VP, Content Strategy & Inclusive Programming at AMC Theaters. In her present role, Nikkole is responsible for defining, developing and implementing AMC's current strategy around film, alternative content, and expansion into digital, and building plans for execution across AMC's channels. In her previous role, VP of Special & Alternative Content, Nikkole created and executed the strategic vision for diversifying content across 650+ theatres/8,000 screens nationwide, including independent and foreign films, alternative content (i.e. niche content on partial schedules), and curated live events for the largest feature film exhibitor in the world.
Recently Debra Lee was asked by Muse (a division of the Robb Report) to pick the "next" Debra Lee, and Debra chose Nikkole, and for good reason. Nikkole's role at AMC has been focused on assisting independent filmmakers to obtain distribution through the various distribution alternatives at AMC. In this podcast, Lisa and Nikkole discuss these various ways of distribution, including "four walling" films and other innovative measures undertaken by AMC as implemented by Nikkole. If you are in the business of filmmaking, this is an episode that you don't want to miss.
