Description

Ahead of his meeting on July 2nd 2015 with the Adult Providers Network and Age Verification Vendors pitching their services and what it can do for the adult industry, Chris Ratcliffe (head of TVX) explains his involvement with The Digital Policy Alliance that saw those in the adult industry covene with parliamentarians to discuss the needs and requirements of an industry that a previous roundtable meeting with ATVOD made it clear by its successful turnout and support that the adult business is here to stay and wants to take responsibility for the services it provides to adults

Its worth bearing in mind when Age Verification is mandated, it will encompass a wide range of adult services, from cam sites, to dating including the whole spectrum of adult services beyond that where age verification is required ie buying knives, cigarettes, alcohol online.

The most important part of these two pivotal meetings is that a cross section of the adult business community showed support by engaging in discussion to provide understanding in this area whereas if there was no interest, the rules would have been made up in our absence which does the adult business no favours

An example of this making the rules up without consultation can be seen with ATVODs recent AVMS Regulations which effected a protest led by Charlotte Rose last December. Once a law is passed nto legislation it is hard to reverse

Here Chris talks talks with members of UK Adult Producers and listens to first hand experiences of those dealing with age verification, bringing up points that need to be addressed to those providing services in this sector to seek a simple and effective solution that guarantees and maintains anonymity to the consumers of adult services without the need for a database
