The Parenting Mentor Sessions is the place where real moms and dads call in and open up about their parenting struggles. Here, you can listen in on my conversations with these parents to get strategies, skills, and scripts to reduce the everyday anxiety that inevitably comes with being a parent.
Today, I give some background. I offer my own story of raising two kids, and I share how I gradually learned what does and doesn't work, as well as what it does and doesn't mean to be a parent. I offer my philosophy about the role of a parent and talk about how everyday childrearing is more about the process than about the immediate results. I talk about why parents should be guides and support systems for their children, not human engineers. I discuss why you can't walk them through every situation, but why you can (and should) equip them to be able to navigate different situations on their own. Finally, I introduce my CLEARR Method.
