Description

This week I had the opportunity to talk with Ryan Nicodemus. He co-founded a blog with Joshua Fields Milburn called TheMinimalists.com to share their journey and message of minimalism, to help others to live a meaningful life.

I was pretty excited to have the opportunity to have Ryan on the show. The Minimalists were and continue to be a big part of my entrepreneurial journey. I remember reading their essays from my cubicle at work and just being inspired. Inspired that life could be different. That I could simplify my life, and not have to be inside of a cubicle. Inspired to know that, if I put my mind to something, that I could accomplish it.

In this episode, Ryan shares about living your purpose.

Minimalism, or living a simple life, can be a tool to cultivate your passion, as it was for me. Applying different principles that they talk about on their blog can help to clear out mental (and physical) clutter, and allow us to focus on the things that truly add value to our lives.

A powerful mindset is when your short-term actions are aligned with your long-term values. That's been my biggest takeaway from The Minimalists content.

There are so many how-to's for achieving whatever goal that you want to achieve. More important than the 'how' though, is why you would want to achieve that goal. Seek to live a life of value, and the how will begin to become clearer.

Stop by lessisnow.com and get your tickets for The Minimalists tour! They're going to over 47 cities across North America. Find the nearest city to you and get your reservations in! The page also has links to information and photos of past tours they've done. It's well-worth checking out.

Also, if you've got Netflix (or even if you don't), check out their documentary, Minimalism Film: A Documentary About the Important Things. The title is fairly self-descriptive, and even if you don't have Netflix, if you go to minimalismfilm.com there is a whole host of other ways to see the film.

Finally, if you enjoy reading, pick up Everything that Remains. It's easy to read and highly enjoyable.

Give Ryan a shout out on Twitter or Instagram @ryannicodemus! Share the episode and tag him, telling him thank you for taking the time to share today.

If you enjoyed the episode, it would be super awesome of you to leave a rating and review in iTunes. That's the best way to help out the show, as it makes it easier for others to find us and hear from amazing guests like Ryan!
