It's not how long you live, but how you live, and what you leave behind that matters. Embracing and living life to the fullest, deeply desiring to make a difference here in this world. Those were your dreams. It's been seventeen years since you were taken from us. We miss you: we miss the generations we lost when we lost you. You loved and touched the lives of many. You made a difference in so many ways.
Do you think your story can help? That you can help others, somehow? I believe there are people that struggle every day with the challenges Nic's family has faced and conquered. Who benefits when we come to understand and harness the power of forgiveness or when we step out and pour into the lives of others? Marriages, children, Nations...Because you lived I forgave and the world is a better place.
Many healthcare workers struggle with compassion fatigue. I was one of them. When you find yourself on the other side of the bed it becomes a completely different story.
Compassion fatigue is real in our world today. Taking care of yourself doesn't mean me first. It means me too.
