Description

Welcome to The Pathway... the podcast that explores the transformative power of youth sports.

The series is inspired by an upcoming book by Andrew O'Loughlin, who got curious about the best ways to navigate through the tests, trials and triumphs of his own kids sport, and what would be the best tips for us as providers at clubs, or as a guide for parents, and, most importantly, for the kids.

In each episode, we dive into the Hero's Journey of young athletes, uncovering the lessons, challenges, and triumphs that shape who they are - and who they're becoming.

In this episode, we are  talking about 'Crossing the Threshold - the critical point where kids leave the ordinary world of unstructured play and enter the special world of organized sports—a place that's challenging, exciting, and sometimes overwhelming.

We also address those questions really being asked by parents, discussed and debated on the sidelines and school gates, what do we need to do differently for girls than boys, if anything? Is this sport safe enough for my kid? And the classics, should it be about winning?
