Vincent C. Crawford currently serve as the Chief Judge of Dekalb County Juvenile Court. He also sits by designation in Superior Court. He graduated with honors from Florida A&M University in 1987 with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science. He received his law degree with honors from Mercer University in 1990. On April 4, 2020 he was inducted into the Florida A&M University College of Social Science, Arts and Humanities Alumni Gallery of Distinction.
He started his legal career as a staff Attorney for Georgia Legal Services from 1990 to 1993 representing women in that were victims of domestic violence in divorce proceedings. In 1993 he made career change and was appointed Deputy Chief Assistant District Attorney for the Augusta Judicial Circuit. During his tenure in Augusta he was the Assistant District Attorney in charge of prosecuting violent crimes with multiple defendants. In 1995 he moved to Atlanta and served as an assistant District Attorney for the Stone Mountain Judicial Circuit. In 1997 he became a solo practitioner in the areas of criminal, domestic and juvenile law. On February 27, 2005 he was appointed to the position of Associate Magistrate Judge for the Stone Mountain Judicial Circuit. On March 24, 2006 he was appointed to the position of Juvenile Court Judge where he currently. He is currently a member of the Georgia Council of Juvenile Court Judges, the National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges and the American Judges Association. He is the past President of the Dekalb Lawyers Association and a member of the Dekalb Bar Association.
Judge Crawford has received several awards and recognition for his commitment to the youth in Juvenile Court as well as the community, such as a Romae T. Powell Award, the DeKalb County Juvenile Court Service award, the Multi Agency Alliance for children the “Shining Star Award” for his work with children in foster care, and the “Recognition of Outstanding Leadership Award” for his work in the community from Jack and Jill of America, Inc. among many more.
In 2016 Judge Crawford as the appointed Chairman by the Georgia Supreme Court for the Georgia Court Improvement Project. He was the only Judge in the United States to be invited as a guest speaker to the White House by then President Barack Obama.
Judge Crawford is a member of the National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges and the American Judges Association. Judge Crawford as a hobby serves as the Chairman and Head Judge in Georgia for the National Judge for the National Physique Committee (NPC). He is also a Judge with the International Federation of Bodybuilding (IFBB).
