Last weekend I attended a mastermind with a group that I'm a part of (i.e. I'm not the leader of this group) and the experience was AMAZING!
I wanted to take a couple of minutes to give you the big lessons I learned so you could take them and use them.
Before we get going, though, if you don't know what a mastermind is, it's essentially the idea that two heads are better than one. It was identified by Napoleon Hill and outlined in his book "Think and Grow Rich."
What happens is, 10-15 of us converge on this office space in LA and talk about our businesses: what's working and what isn't... and get feedback from everyone on ideas for improving.
Here are my top 10 (to get in-depth, make sure you watch/listen):
1. It's okay to do one simple thing really really well.
2. Focus is what gets results over anything else.
3. There are many different ways to approach a problem.
4. "yes, but" vs. "yes, and"
5. Doing is always better than thinking.
6. Always be wary of putting cart before horse.
7. You are always making decisions with incomplete data.
8. Reliability vs. risk.
9. Minimum effective dose vs. maximum recoverable volume
10. To a person with a hammer, everything is a nail.
There you go!
It was a fantastic experience and I'd recommend everyone in business consider joining one (and the more you pay the better people you'll usually be associating with...).
