Description

Our conversation today with Michelle Smeltzer from Thermal Shelter of Front Royal gave us some insight into the homeless population in Warren County and the needs of the thermal shelter to serve them.

Michelle have us a history of the shelter which opened in 2018. It is open mid-December through March each year and offers a safe place to sleep and a hot meal for those experiencing homelessness in the area. She talked about the needs of the shelter for volunteers, donations of paper goods, meal preparation, as well as monetary donations. They currently have two paid positions available for a part-time person to serve as a night monitor at the shelter located in the Front Royal Presbyterian Church at 115 Luray Avenue, Front Royal.
