TC Thompkins, born in Richmond, Virginia, is an artist and music development specialist, music consultant, and author. After serving in the Vietnam War, he attended Bishop College in Dallas, Texas, got married, had a child, and has lived in Memphis, Tennessee; Chicago, Illinois; and NYC. He's worked at Stax Records, Capital Records, CBS Records/Sony Music, Epic Records, and GR Production (where he discovered Teddy Riley and his "New Jack Swing") and has worked with artists such as Michael Jackson and Luther Vandross in his over 40 years in the music industry. Thompkins Marketing came about in 1991 and offers a range of services for music, video, and movies. His book, When Radio Was King, details his journey identifying, developing, and launching legendary artists to the top of the charts. TC and his family make Sugar Land, Texas their home.
