On this segment of HarperAudio!,

Wallace Stevens reading his own poetry. Stevens was born in 1879, and
these recordings were made shortly before his death in 1955. Although
he published poetry as early as 1914, Stevens did not receive widespread
recognition until the publication of his collected poems in 1954, for
which he was awarded the Pulitzer Prize. Stevens' poems focus on the
sound of language, on obscure vocabulary, and on imaginative images.
This selection includes "The Idea of Order at Key West," "The Poem that
Took the Place of a Mountain," and "Vacancy in the Park." The poems are
not individually announced.
