In this episode, I discuss a few simple strategies and tips to help a hiker get the most out of their loaded pack training.
Loaded pack training can be an incredibly simple, effective and specific method of training for a hiker, trekker or backpacker.
However, all too often, hikers don't put much thought into this... which can often severely limit the effectiveness of this type of training, while at the same time substantially increase the risk of injury and pain.
So today, I explore a few simple rules and methods to ensure a hiker does this type of training to best effect.
You will learn:
- The best way to add weight to your pack (which will reduce your risk of discomfort and give you a 'safety net' if things start to get sore)
- The three methods of loaded pack training which I love for my hikers and trekkers
- A simple rule of thumb when it comes to pack weight and training distance which will substantially decrease your risk of injury
- A few simple progression plans to help you plan your loaded pack training over the weeks and months
- Some common problems associated with loaded pack training (plus some easy solutions on how to avoid them!)
