In this episode, I explore which exercise classes are the best addition to a hikers training week.
I have said many times that doing generic exercise classes are not the best for hikers. That is because I know following a structured, specific strength and conditioning program is the very best thing you can do to get ready for the trail. This is in regards to specificity, injury risk, time efficiency and effectiveness.
However, if you are a hiker who loves your exercise classes, or you are stuck at home and are thinking about jumping on an online class, I would never try to stop you doing this...
If you are in this situation, just know, there are some classes which are a bit more suited for hikers. And in this episode, I explain my thoughts here.
You will learn:
-
The best exercises classes for hikers (which I give my 'tick of approval')
-
The unavoidable reason when a hiker should avoid a particular exercise class (there really is no arguing this...)
-
A few exercise classes I generally don't recommend for hikers (I may ruffle a few feathers here...)
-
A good approach to fitting exercise classes into your training (if they fit into a 'not recommended' category)
