The enemy is defeated, and God through Jesus has entrusted the enforcement of that defeat in the believer. The believer occupies an elevated position, seated with Jesus in heavenly places, far above any opposing forces. The enemy uses deception and manipulation to encourage the believer to come down from the elevated position and disregard the authority, which enables the enemy to wreak havoc in the believer's life and circumstances.
