Description

Today our guest is social entrepreneur Shaun Loney. Shaun is the Director and co-founder of AKI Energy, he wrote a fascinating book on FNMI social enterprising initiatives — An Army of Problem Solvers: Reconciliation and The Solutions Economy. The book is a tell-all about Shaun’s social enterprising projects with FNMI communities in Manitoba and the barriers holding back capacity building initiatives and alternative energy projects. We talk about governmental blockages, systemic issues, and the need for a paradigm shift in the policy and legislation around supporting non-profits in a resource extraction economy. AKI Energy is headquartered in Winnipeg’s North End where Shaun is working to promote employment, education, and development through reconciliation and the economy.
