Today our guest is Dr. Anne­mieke Faren­horst, Pro­fes­sor in the depart­ment of Soil Sci­ence in the Fac­ul­ty of Agri­cul­ture and Food Sci­ence at the Uni­ver­si­ty of Man­i­to­ba. We dis­cuss Dr. Faren­horst’s nom­i­na­tion by the Wom­an’s Exec­u­tive Board as a Top 100 Woman in Cana­da for her incred­i­ble work with First Nations’ com­mu­ni­ties and water research. Dr. Faren­horst is the Prairie NSERC Chair for Women in Sci­ence in Engi­neer­ing and the Prin­ci­ple Inves­ti­ga­tor for a mul­ti-mil­lion dol­lar NSERC research grant and the direc­tor of the Cre­ate H20 Pro­gram. Cre­ate is a one-of-a-kind research and train­ing pro­gram for Indige­nous sci­en­tists work­ing in Indige­nous com­mu­ni­ties. We also chat about the inter­sec­tion of tra­di­tion­al knowl­edge and science.
