On Thurs­day and Fri­day, Jun. 1 – 2, the Cana­di­an Cen­tre for Human Rights Research in part­ner­ship with the CRE­ATE H20 Pro­gram host­ed the 4th Annu­al CRE­ATE H20 First Nation Water Research Con­fer­ence in the Moot Court Room of the Rob­son Law Build­ing to dis­cuss the state of water safe­ty and water secu­ri­ty in First Nation com­mu­ni­ties across Man­i­to­ba and Cana­da. The orga­niz­ing com­mit­tee of the con­fer­ence invit­ed two lead­ing researchers in FN Water Safe­ty from USaskatchewan to deliv­er Keynote Address­es: Dr. Priscil­la Set­tee (Native Stud­ies) and Dr. Lali­ta Bhardawaj (Pub­lic Health). Day 1 was Mod­er­at­ed by Grad­u­ate Stu­dent, Tay­lor Moriseau, who invit­ed Dr. Setee to deliv­er her address enti­tled: ​Water: Our First Rel­a­tive, Our First Respon­si­bil­i­ty”. This is an abridged ver­sion of the keynote. Day 2 will air next week.
