It’s Prank Day on the pod!!!! In an attempt to end winter early, The Uncommonwealth Podcast has moved April Fools’ day to…TODAY.
Piers is unprepared for prank-day but that doesn't stop him from quickly googling three hilarious incidents, including when the police somehow mistook people in line for the COVID vaccine for a big raucous party that we weren’t invited to (otherwise known as a “rave”). This leads to the obvious and important question: “How does one rave?” Advice welcome!
Jimmy details several famous Australian pranks by comedian troupe, The Chasers, where one prank went so well it almost caused a national security crisis. The team ask a high-minded question: what do you do when you succeed and weren’t expecting to succeed? Let’s journal about it.
Adam jumps in with a jam-packed Two Truths and a Lie segment. (If you listen closely, you can hear Katherine audibly shudder.) Despite the team’s frustration with Adam’s prank-y nature, we learn a lot, especially about baseball player Sidd Finch who could throw a fastball at 168 miles per hour. Too fast to be true?
Finally, Katherine closes out this mind-boggling episode with the 1978 prank of The Sidney Iceberg, executed by the founder of Australian Geographic, Dick Smith.
No Uncommonwealth episode is complete without a penis-pun. Luckily, Dick Smith comes to the rescue with his promise of “dicksicles.” You can’t make this stuff up, unless you make it up. (We swear we didn’t make that one up!)
