Description

Taking time to visit other churches in your area or across the country is a great way to grow in your leadership. I love seeing a church in action and I always come away with pages of notes about things I want to do differently or consider for my church. Whether it’s a small church or a “brand-name mega church,” many leaders use these visits as a chance to grow and learn.

However, if we don’t prepare our team or ourselves, we can miss the learning opportunities these church visits present to us. Over the years, I’ve taken dozens of leaders to visit other churches and I’ve found that people are tempted to two extremes in their responses:

The problem with both of those extremes is that they block us from learning. They shut us down from taking in what is happening at the church you are visiting. I’ve seen this happen time and again with leading church visits. Here are a few strategies to fight these temptations:
