I learned about this concept a couple of months ago when I was talking with Linn Boyke (previous dog trainer interview). I had sent him a video of a dog playing and he quickly responded and informed me of the sparring vs. playing concept. It made a TON of sense to me and ever since then I have kept a closer watch on how the dogs play during daycare.
