Do you remember when Facebook bought Instagram back in 2012? Here's another revelation for you . . .
Facebook has launched its latest video conferencing feature, Messenger Rooms, which allows up to 50 people to video chat. They are ready to compete with services like Zoom, Skype, Google Meet, and Microsoft Teams, as more people turn to video chat during coronavirus lockdown.
Basically, it's almost like going into a zoom meeting where you can do it strictly from your app. When you grab your smartphone, you can easily open the messenger app, tap the people tab at the bottom right of the screen, and tap Create a Room.
Once you do that, you're going to see different options, and once you're done creating an activity, you'll see who's invited. Did you know that you can pre-schedule it so that people are notified of it beforehand? This is an incredible option for many people who are at home right now.
I was on a live stream yesterday on a virtual event with some great influencers like Mike Dillard, a famous marketer in the space. And somebody had asked, "Could you actually record these?" And by doing the research and testing it out, it looks like that you can click the start broadcast option.
Once you've done that broadcast, it gives you the option to record so you can download after the broadcast has ended. Once you start broadcasting, you can also remove and prevent any notifications coming in to disturb you while you're online in this room.
What's cool is it populates a link that you can share out. Let's say you forgot to invite some people, and you have this link that pops up. You could copy and paste the meeting link and then put it in messenger if you'd like to, which means you can always add someone even during the actual session if you forgot to send them an invitation or remember them on the spot as you are speaking.
