Captain Jonathan Archer...Into Darkness.

In the beginning, Archer was a Starfleet Captain namely in rank, but not a Starfleet Captain of any measurable EXPERIENCE. It is fair to say that he was unprepared for deep space, but is this merely a valid criticism or in fact a sheer truism? Think about the validity of that specific critique and ask yourself, “How does one truly prepare for the unknown vastness of uncharted space? How CAN one prepare for the unimaginable - as experienced by the Xindi attack on Earth? That is simply and logically a true and undeniable IMPOSSIBILITY.

Every Starship Captain that succeeded Archer all owe something, even in the smallest of ways, to the flawed and at times tragically tarnished career that Archer had to endure in order for humanity to survive - specifically against the Xindi; the mission that changed him forever. In the final analysis, Archer's vision of an even greater future for all sentient beings was built upon a career rife with personal and professional sacrifices and regret. In the end, his crucible was the catalyst for a Coalition of Planets that would change everything.
