A new art exhibition at Duke Chapel aims to represent theological truths about hope, love, and the presence of God in moments of ordinary human interactions. Titled "Imagination and Promise: The Theological Aesthetics of Hope," the exhibition presents pencil drawings of people on cut paper layered on backgrounds textured by water marbling, gold ink, and ashes. The artist who created "Imagination and Promise" is Jaden Dejesus Blango, a Duke Divinity School student, who has been selected this year as Duke Chapel’s C. Eric Lincoln Fellow in Theology and Arts. The fellowship honors the legacy of the late Duke professor and scholar of religion and culture Dr. C. Eric Lincoln and includes the opportunity to present an exhibition of sacred art.
