It starts with an immediately involving nightmare. Terry is riding his bike down a rural road when a police car hits him, knocking him to the ground. Vague and false charges are made, and money is discovered in his bag when it is checked. Terry adds that he's going to bail out his cousin, but the cops will take the money anyhow, and he can file a complaint to get it back, a lengthy procedure that would put his cousin in danger: a key witness in a gangland death trial on his way to state prison with a target on his back. He is thus locked in a confusing system, up against both local officers with agendas and a country that permits people in authority to do so simply and legally.
