It could have been disastrous for Beetlejuice to get a sequel all these years later. Fortunately, there are enough games and pleasure in this sequel to make it worthwhile. Though predictable, the tale works for the most part; Alfred Gough, Miles Millar, and Seth Grahame-Smith revisit the past while veering more toward the realm of the afterlife. Additionally, it's a very funny movie. Keaton is simply delightful to watch when he's in his element, which happens to be anytime the title character is allowed to run wild. Occasionally, it deviates from its outrageous antics to attempt hammering home a plot point with unsatisfactory emotional beats, which detracts from the whole experience.
