JOKER: The tale of a nihilistic man who finds love is told in FOLIE À DEUX. After the events of the first section, Arthur Fleck is incarcerated at Arkham State Hospital for killing five men, including one on live television. Arthur has never disclosed to anyone that he killed his mother Penny Fleck and that she didn't pass away organically. Maryanne Stewart, who is sympathetic to Arthur, is his attorney and intends to demonstrate in court that he is bipolar. She also wants to show the jury that Joker, not Arthur, was the one who killed these people. Arthur runs into Lee in Arkham. After she set fire to her parent's apartment, she was placed in an institutional setting. She is a fan of Arthur's and is aware of his past.
