Description

Today we are undressing (quite literally) the idea of what it means to be comfortable in your own body. I'm talking with Salma, an oil painter dedicated to elevating women in their true essence by allowing them to see themselves as art, and we uncover so many layers of shame, anxiety, and unfortunate discomfort so many of us have with being nude. Salma shares her experiences with me about growing up in a strict Muslim household, where she felt stifled and uncomfortable about the natural process of puberty and becoming comfortable in her own body. She tells me how this lead her to find her calling in healing herself and now other women's feminine wounds and allowing them to see the beauty in their purest form.

We both uncover our own personal journeys and stories about getting to know our bodies nude and discuss how the effects of women's bodies being depicted and illustrated through art by men centuries ago have translated into how we view the feminine form today.
