This week’s guest is the 300 game AFL legend, Kane Cornes.
I invited Kane on the show because he is one of the most determined, relentless, single focused players to ever put on a guernsey in the Australian Football League. He has also faced his fair share of trying times and I was intrigued to see how one might affect the other
Kane is making a name for himself as a media personality, with shows in South Australia and Melbourne. He is the games record holder for his former club Port Adelaide, premiership player, 2x All Australian and 4x Best and Fairest winner. He is also part of one of the most dominant families in South Australian footy.
I asked Kane on the show because of his work ethic and his willingness to tell it how it is.
Kane’s essay question was:
“Twenty years of performance, with what has been described as ‘the most relentless drive to succeed.’ Yes - you have had many wins but also have been faced with more than one’s share of tragedy and challenge. What are the simple strategies you learned to implement, that allows Kane – the elite performer to appear, no matter the circumstance?”
Kane and I discuss his current pursuit to run a marathon in under two and a half hours, what he has learned from family's tribulations, and how restructuring his view on the perspective of opportunity caused much more joy in his footy.
