You hear people say this often: These are the days! And maybe you often hear the phrases like, "The days are long, but the years are short." Or, "Soak in every moment and memory you can, because you will miss this age or stage of you little humans."
All these statements can be true, but when you are in a season of hard days, hearing any of those statements can really be challenging-let alone trying to enjoy every moment and memory Having a bad day or hard days doesn't need to dictate your whole parenting experience. There will be intense days in growing and raising humans.
In this episode host Sondra Doty shares her personal hard through being extremely sick in pregnancy; how she questioned why it had to be so hard. She also shares her favorite moments having conversations with her boys in the car; an why she takes pictures of them while sleeping to help remind her that they are so sweet, cute and naïve.
Encourage others and validate when you see people's personal hard. But don't compare it. Comparing who is having a harder struggle or circumstance has no benefit. Listen to others' parenting journey with an open heart.
Take time to acknowledge that you aren't a failure in this role. Just because you are having a bad day doesn't mean you are failing. Also, acknowledge the good days!
These are the days we want to soak in and remember their littleness. Even in the intense days, look for joy and gratefulness. Not all day every day will or has to be joyful!!
It's ok to not have a great days and it's ok to have bad or hard days. Try your best to embrace the days well!
