Description

From Carnegie Hall to the Metropolitan Opera, renowned baritone Gordon Hawkins has shared the operatic stage with Mirella Freni, Placido Domingo, and Grace Bumbry.

His roles over his career have included title roles in "Rigoletto" and "Porgy and Bess," as well as Alberich in the "Ring" cycle, Baron Scarpia in "Tosca" and Marcello in "La boheme."

He currently serves on the faculty at Arizona State University.

He visited IPR's Studio A, where he reflected on his distinguished career and recorded Samuel Barber's "Sure on this shining night" with collaborative pianist Casey Robards.
