Asitir a la edición de álbumes de Graham Nash y Carly Simon, recuperar a Bob Dylan con The Band, despedir a Gram Parsons, celebrar el reconocimiento popular a Gordon Lightfoot, gozar de la elegancia de Joni Mitchell, el impulso imbatible de Linda Ronstadt y cambiar vicios por hábitos con los Doobie Brothers nos ampliaban el horizonte.
Dolly Parton y Joni Mitchell competían por un Grammy, las Pointer Sisters saltaban muros y fronteras estilísticas, Merle Haggard volvía a sorprender, Jimmy Buffet se recreaba en Key West y la Marshall Tucker Band se hacían terrenales tras un debut impactante.
