In today’s episode, I decided to turn the tables and become the guest so that I could share one of my own experiences with you and you could get to know me a bit better. My friend, Jessi Uran, from Episode 2 of my show, kindly played the role of show host. In this episode, I talk about the circumstances that led us to the Williston, North Dakota, area in the midst of an oil boom. I share what it was like to live in a 400 sq. ft. trailer and how I filled the long days alone with my baby daughter while my husband was working. I also talk about loneliness and the importance of friendship and community.
If hearing about the North Dakota oil boom piqued your interest, you can watch a feature NBC did with Brian Williams on Rock Center back in 2011. If you want to see a photo of the man camp made of shipping containers, you can do so here. Below, I’m sharing a couple photos from our time in North Dakota. On the left, you can see the inside of our trailer and on the right, a photo of the landscape not too far from where we were living.
