Dimitri Tiomkin es un judío ruso que tras la Revolución rusa emigró primero a Berlín y luego a Nueva York para terminar en Hollywood tras el crack de 1929. Considerado ya un niño prodigio en su país, su capacidad para la orquestación y la melodía le valieron para escribir algunas de las bandas sonoras más grandes de todos los tiempos, destacando sobremanera en sus trabajos para las películas del Oeste.
Su estilo sería copiado por otros, pero el equipo formado por Dimitri Tiomkin músico, Ned Washington letrista y Frankie Laine cantante, eran ya casi garantía de éxito. Estuvo nominado al Oscar en veintidós ocasiones, ganando sólo cuatro estatuilas por sus bandas sonoras para “Escrito en el cielo” (The high and the mighty), “El viejo y el mar” y otros dos por “Solo ante el peligro”, banda sonora y canción.
En principio en este programa haremos un recorrido por sus bandas sonoras ambientadas en el Oeste. Os invitamos a dar un recorrido por los grandes espacios abiertos, dibujados en el pentagrama por Dimitri Tiomkin, en películas del Oeste como “SOLO ANTE EL PELIGRO”, “EL ÁLAMO”, “RIO BRAVO”, “DUELO AL SOL”, “GIGANTE” o “DUELO DE TITANES” entre otras.
