This Monday Accent ON!'s host ILONA EUROPA had the pleasure to ask the MAYOR OF ONTARIO,
PAUL LEON, a few questions via telephone interview.
Independent candidate Paul Leon and Democrat Freddie Rodriguez have their eyes on representing the 52nd
Assembly District.
Voters on Tuesday will be asked to choose between Leon, the Ontario mayor, and Rodriguez, a Pomona
councilman, to serve the district that includes Montclair, Ontario, Chino and portions of Fontana and Pomona.
Leon, once a registered Republican who switched to an independent after losing to Torres for the state Senate
seat, said he believes most Americans are fed up with the two-party system.
“I believe people are looking for the right candidate to serve as their representative, not the
right party to represent them,” he said.
“I’m about people, and not politics or party,” he also said. “I’m about getting some jobs
in this state. I’m going to put California back to work again because as the only independent I will have
the leverage it takes to force the two parties to work together.”
