"Football Safety and Its Impact on Youth Sports"
SHOW GUEST: Steve Wright
Football is one of the most popular sports played by young athletes. Unfortunately, its popularity sometimes
comes with a price. In 2012, over 900,000 young athletes under the age of 18 were treated in emergency rooms,
doctors' offices, and clinics for football-related injuries, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety
Commission. Former NFL lineman Steve Wright believes that improved safer football equipment must be developed
to keep up with the bigger, faster and stronger players of today. Tune in as Steve and our host, Marvin
Smith, tackles this controversial issue that affects every level of the sport, starting with the NFL and
moving all the way down to junior leagues.
