Description

This week's episode features guest star Aspen Ladd and her brother Shealor. He is currently 19 but has been training since he was 11 years old in combat sports and MMA. He is a black belt in karate and has won several championships in wrestling. Aspen is also a fighter and has fought in the UFC and helps train and manage her brother Shealor. One coaching point Aspen explains in the program is that we need to develop at a good pace, even with lots of opportunities it is important to refine our skills and not to bite off more than we can chew. Another point Aspen addresses are having the proper awareness to know WHEN to take the next step. This is important in life and in MMA- timing and development are two main pillars of reaching that peak awareness that allows us to reach our goals. Bruce pivots from UFC, MMA, etc to PFL, which stands for Professional Fighters League. One major difference between these fighting organizations is that PFL has seasons instead of being on call and has an increased amount of money per fight. Aspen Ladd covers the finer details of the fighting and business side of the PFL. Shealor discusses later how he wants to go pro but he wants to continue to gain experience and make sure he is ready; trying to earn that awareness to take the next step. An important lesson Shealor shares is to pursue what you love and dedicate yourself fully to whatever it is. To conclude, Shealor shares two pros and cons of fighting. This is a very insightful listen not only about the fighting world but the principles we can take from that and apply to our own personal lives.
