Many AFRICAN-AMERICANS believe in order to get respect, justice, and/or equality in the U.S. it is necessary to focus ONLY on the self-interest the BLACK community versus assisting LATINOS, NATIVE AMERICANS, WHITES and/or GAY COMMUNITIES with their self-interest. Others argue that at only 13% of the U.S. population it necessary for AFRICAN-AMERICANS to form strategic alliance with other groups in order to progress in America. What about historically?
