We discuss 1John and the meaning of "perfect love casts out fear." John 15:13-14 Jesus said: "Greater love has no man than this: that a man lay down his life for his friends. You are My friends if you do whatever I command you." When Yeshua/Jesus lay down His life for us, He demonstrated perfect love. Love that demonstrates Hebrews 2:14-15: "so that through death He might destroy him who has the power of death, that is, the devil, and deliver those who through fear of death were throughout their lives subject to bondage." His perfect sacrifice and love covered our sin and released us from their punishment. 1John 4:18 "There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. Whoever fears is not perfect in love." 1John 2:2 "He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not for our sins only, but also for the sins of the whole world." Loved by Jesus and resurrected as a new man, given a new life in the spirit, should change our heart. 1John 3:14 "We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love the brothers." 1John 3:17-18 "Whoever has the world's goods and sees his brother in need, but closes his heart of compassion from him, how can the love of God remain in him? My little children , let us love not in word and speech, but in action and truth." 1 John 4:19-21 "We love Him because He first loved us. If anyone says, "I love God," and hates his brother, he is a liar. For whoever does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen? We have this commandment from Him: Whoever loves God must also love his brother."
