We discuss Genesis 23-25, “The life of Sarah”, and trace the seed of the blessing starting with Noah, through Abraham and Sarah, Isaac and Rebekah. The seed of redemption eventually incarnates as Yeshua, Jesus' Hebrew name, which means “salvation”. This is God's plan for the fulfillment of the Abrahamic covenant that through Abraham's seed all nations would be blessed. After Sarah's death, Abraham asks his faithful servant, Eliezer, to go to his native land and family to find a bride for Isaac. The story illustrates God's favor and blessing by answering the servant Eliezer's prayer through Rebekah who embodies the traits of kindness, truth, and faithfulness. After answered prayer, Eliezer the faithful servant bows down in worship to the LORD in praise and gratitude. Rebekah is asked “Will she go with this man?” Gen 24:58-60 Rebekah responds in faith and obedience “I will go.” Rebekah receives the blessing, “Our sister, be thou the mother of thousands of ten thousands, and let thy seed possess the gate of those that hate them.'” We discuss the metaphor of this story: God, the father, sends his most trusted servant, the Holy Spirit, to go find a bride for His Son, Yeshua, the heir of all things. Finally we discuss the New Covenant passage, 1Corinthians 15 the seed that is sown through faith in Yeshua that results in the imperishable body of the new man, the glory of the heavenly body. 1Cor 15:42-44 “What is sown is perishable, what is raised is imperishable. It is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory. It is sown in weakness, it is raised in power. It is sown a physical body, it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a physical body, there is also a spiritual body.”
