THE FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT – Part 3
Galatians 5:22-23 “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.”
The third fruit of the Spirit is peace. This is not a peace that depends on circumstances. Worldly peace is totally dependent on the circumstances. If the circumstances are favorable, there is peace.
But the peace that our text is referring to is not dependent on the circumstances.
Jesus gave this peace to His disciples; John 14:27 "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid."
There are many things that are disturbing to the Christian. The shape the world is in is a stealer of peace. Jesus says, “Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” Jesus had the kind of peace that could not be taken from Him when faced with the cross. Jesus was only days away from His crucifixion when He gave this verse to His disciples.
John 16:33 "These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world."
Romans 15:13 "Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost."
It takes faith to receive the gift of peace. It is by faith that we know the will of God.
Colossians 3:15 "And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful."
The Holy Spirit produces this peace as we walk in the Spirit. Peace is one of the fruits of the Spirit.
Is this peace evident in your life? Ask and you shall receive!
May the Lord Bless these words to our hearts today!
