THE FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT – Part 8

Galatians 5:22-24, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,  Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.”

Meekness is the eighth fruit of the Spirit.

Meekness is not weakness. Meekness is temper under control. Jesus is meek. Matthew 11:28-29 “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.  Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.”

Jesus was completely approachable. He showed meekness as He ministered during His personal ministry. I hear someone say, “I am not meek by nature.” The Spirit-filled believer has the indwelling of the Holy Spirit to produce the fruit of the Spirit.

Many things the Lord tells us to do cannot be done in the strength of the flesh. The Lord has given us the Person of the Holy Spirit to reproduce the fruit of the Spirit in our lives.

2 Corinthians 10:1 “Now I Paul myself beseech you by the meekness and gentleness of Christ, who in presence am base among you, but being absent am bold toward you:”

Paul did not want to come to them in harshness. We are not representatives of Christ when we are harsh with people.

2 Timothy 2:24-25 “And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient,  In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;”

Our leaders are to be meek as they instruct wayward believers.

May the Lord bless these words to our hearts today!

In Christ,
