Description

Last Sunday I got a chance to preach at Carron Baptist Church in SW, Washington, DC.  The message was on Trusting God.  The audio isn't that great but the best I could do for us.  Thank you for listening.  http://unnamedchurch.com.

If you love Me, you will keep My commandments. John 14:15

we don't talk about trust much.  everybody pontificates,  exaggerates, embellishes, ---lies.  We have we come to expect it.  We don't trust leaders, preachers, pastors, teachers, fathers, or mothers.  Something broke down.  And those are the people we see.

How do you trust an invisible God?  How do you trust someone whom you have never seen?

That is what I am talking about this morning.  You don't know me though you heard my bio.  But I wrote it.  Could have said anything but we are used to it.  Everything I said was true but you have to just TRUST me on it.

seems like a simple thing.  But it is the simple things that trip us up.  You don't trip on the rug when they roll it up.  You trip on that little piece that is sticking up that you didn't see in time.  am I right?  It is not the big sins that keep us out of heaven, its the little ones.

rust as a verb means “to believe.” If you believe in something or someone, then you have confidence in them.

To gain trust, we must be believable so that another will have confidence in our ability to keep our word,

If you love Me, you will keep My commandments. John 14:15

OK now part two, how about us.  Can't we be better?

So, how do we gain trust? We gain trust when we:

Keep our word.
It is about living the way we talk.

Keeping our word builds substance to our character.

Deliver as expected. Each day, we have responsibilities. When we deliver on them in a timely and complete manner, confidence is gained. Yes, it is about living up to our responsibilities, but it is also about a being solid citizen in our workplace, neighborhood, and community.  Delivering as expected adds depth to our integrity.

Follow through on actions requested. People depend on us. Work is a process, and each step involves another person.

Trust ourself.
Ephesians 3:20 Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us,

It is about being fully purposeful in our words and actions,
Trusting ourselves empowers our soul.

       Trust God

Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart; and lean not to your own understanding.  In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
