Paul illustrates our freedom from the Law with the analogy of marriage, showing how the death of one partner frees the other from lifelong obligations. The subject under discussion here is not divorce and remarriage but the Christian's relationship to the system called "Law". Chapter 6 says, "For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace"... yet Chapter 7 says, "For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin".
