Though incurable, metastatic ("Stage IV") cancer is treatable and manageable, and you can live a vibrant life. One example is Shirley Mertz. Diagnosed with early stage breast cancer in 1991 and now living with cancer, Mertz is a patient advocate and chair of the Metastatic Breast Cancer Alliance. She shares advice on facing your diagnosis, asking questions and building a support network.
