An estimated 48 million people in the U.S.A. each year experience a foodborne illness, an infection or irritation of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract caused by foods or beverages that contain harmful bacteria, parasites, viruses or chemicals. Common symptoms including vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, fever and chills. Charlene Brown's son, Rustin, contracted E coli from bagged lettuce in 2003. She shares her experience and tips for protecting you and your family against foodborne illnesses.
