Description

President Obama said Louisiana's plight would not be forgotten as he deflected criticism that his visit could be seen as political in nature. He promised a swift and thorough response from the federal government. But he did say that there wasn't enough money to address long-term repairs and to reduce the chances of future disasters.More than 60,000 homes have been damaged by the days-long flood. Obama said more than 100,000 people had applied for disaster aid and that FEMA had already spent $127 million responding to the crisis. LOAJ
