In this episode our science roundup includes new Alzheimer's targets, bitter tasting genes, polio, and bacteria-fighting zinc. We talk briefly about some cool papers involving stem cells from obese patients and modeling Parkinson's in yeast.
We then bring in Dr. Asif Maroof, a post-doctoral fellow in the lab of Dr. Kevin Eggan at the Harvard Stem Cell Institute to talk about his latest paper in Nature Neuroscience describing a gene implicated in ALS a.k.a Lou Gehrig's disease. We finish off with our signature ran, this time about co-workers using up precious supplies. Enjoy!
We are working on a way to categorize all of the research papers we mention on the show and provide, possibly even provide audio summaries. Enter in your name and e-mail address below, and we will notify you of when this feature is available.
