Description

This week my guest is Jason Corley, CMAA, Athletic Director for Long Branch (N.J.) Public Schools, and the 2018 Jersey Sporting News Athletic Director of the Year. When Jason took the position for his alma mater he had one overarching goal: ensure today’s Green Wave student-athletes did not make the same academic mistakes he did. Jason readily admits that he wasn’t the best student growing up. It was sports that kept him going to school and eventually motivated him to attend college. In this episode we’ll get into the details of how Jason established a rigorous academic accountability program that resulted in an increasing number of student-athletes going on to play at the college level, and eventually his becoming part of the Mayoral Transition team.
