PROPHECIES AGAINST Ammon, Edom, and Babylon are the focus of this week's study. Again we find that by looking closely, we see references to rebellious supernatural entities: Milcom (or Molech), the national god of the Ammonites, and Marduk, king of the pantheon in Babylon, as well as demonic entities known in ancient Israel such as Pachad ("terror").
We discuss the near-term fulfillment to Jeremiah's prophecy, the destruction of the kingdoms of Ammon, Moab, and Babylon, but also the last days fulfillment, especially of Babylon, and we review the meaning of herem -- a Hebrew word usually translated "devoted to destruction."
